Alex Ray vying for Commissioner of State Lands

Arkansas native, and Business Development leader at Johnson Controls, Alex Ray is vying for Arkansas Commissioner of State Lands in the upcoming 2018 Republican Primary. Incumbent John Thurston is the current Commissioner and has reached his term limit. Thurston has announced his candidacy for Secretary of State. Currently Ray will be facing First Congressional District Chairman Tommy Land in the primary election. Democrat Shaun Hubanks has announced his plan to run as well.
Ray is a sixth-generation Arkansan. He works with local governments, colleges and universities, and school districts across the state. In a recent interview with KTLO, Classic Hits 101.7 and The Boot News Ray says his work experience makes him the ideal candidate to move the office of the Commissioner of State lands forward.

Ray says his review of the Land Commissioners Office revealed no deficiencies to overcome. He says Thurston has paved the way for his successor to focus on the future.

According to Ray, there is still opportunity to make some improvements saying when Thurston came into office in 2010 “it was literally a circus”.

Ray and his wife Lindsey live in Glenwood, in Saline County, and are active members of The Church at Rock Creek, serving in the worship and student ministries.
