The Mountain Home High School boys' basketball team began the Cyclone Classic on a rough note Wednesday in Russellville. The Bombers suffered their second consecutive loss to Van Buren by a final of 52-44.
The two teams exchanged leads in the opening quarter. The Pointers built a nine-point lead in the second quarter and went into the locker room up six at the break. Van Buren matched its biggest lead of nine in the final period. Mountain Home was able to come back and cut the margin to four, but the Pointers held on in the end to win by eight.
David Wehmeyer led the Bombers with 14 points and ten rebounds, and Talyn Benton added 11 points. For Van Buren, Presley Kindrix scored 19 points, Brayden Gilmore had 12, and Jordan West chipped in 11.
Mountain Home falls to 2-5 on the season, and they'll compete on the consolation side of the bracket Thursday at 4 p.m.
