Philadelphia 76ers close to trading former top draft pick Jahlil Okafor to Brooklyn Nets

The prospective deal would send Okafor to the Brooklyn Nets, along with shooter Nik Stauskas and a 2019 second-round draft pick formerly belonging to the New York Knicks, in exchange for forward Trevor Booker.

Okafor had requested a trade or buyout earlier this year after he said it became clear his future was not with Philadelphia. He has appeared in just two games this season.

After making the first-team All-NBA Rookie team in 2016, Okafor has struggled to maintain his role in the 76ers rotation. The team has seen young players, including Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, blossom in the past two seasons. Okafor, as a result, has been cast aside.
