Lady Bombers among teams to finish tournament play Saturday

The Mountain Home High School girls’ basketball team will wrap up the Fayetteville Bulldog Classic on Saturday. The Lady Bombers will compete for seventh place as they meet Springfield Hillcrest.
Mountain Home is looking to salvage a win in the tournament. The Lady Bombers are 3-5 after losing Friday to Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Hillcrest lost the other consolation game to Greenwood.
Tip-off in the auxiliary gym is scheduled for 11:30. Saturday’s game can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.

The inaugural Battle of the Border Tournament will come to an end Saturday at Mammoth Spring. The consolation title games will be first as the girls’ contest between Gainesville and Calico Rock tips off at 1 p.m., and Cotter’s boys meet Sloan-Hendrix at 2:15. The third place games will follow as the Salem girls face Eminence at 3:30, and Mammoth Spring’s boys take on Mountain View-Liberty at 4:45. In the championship games, the Cotter girls play Mammoth Spring at 6:00, and Calico Rock’s boys meet Couch at 7:30.

Four area teams will finish the Mark Martin Automotive/Lyon College High School Tournament at Batesville. Viola’s girls will face Cave City for the consolation championship at 2:15, and the Mountain View boys take on Bald Knob for third place at 6:00. In the title games, Mountain View’s girls play Southside Batesville at 7:15, and the Izard County boys meet Southside at 8:30.

Mountain Home’s seventh grade boys will be in Bald Knob Saturday for the BKEA Tournament.
