The Melbourne girls were victorious in their opener in the NEA Invitational Basketball Tournament Monday at Jonesboro. The Lady Bearkatz invoked the mercy rule as they routed Marked Tree 57-23 at Arkansas State University. Melbourne will return to First National Bank Arena Saturday morning to compete in the Division I quarterfinals.
