Izard County boys continue to roll, rest of Monday hoops

In high school basketball Monday night, the Izard County boys continued to roll with a 72-44 whipping of Salem. Caleb Faulkner led the attack with 21 points and Dalton Dillard added added 16. The Cougars improve to 17-1 overall and 7-0 in the 2A/1A-3 District.

In the senior girl's game, Salem defeated Izard County 73-50. Abby Brashear scored 16 points for the Lady Cougars and Laney Rider had 15 as they fall to 7-8 and 2-5.

The Izard County junior boys are now 13-0 after beating Salem 52-28. Coby Jones topped the score sheet with 22 points and Chase Orf added 14 for the Junior Cougars.

The Mammoth Spring boys were eliminated from the NEA Tournament in Jonesboro with a 74-53 loss to Ridgefield Christian.

Sagen Godwin paced the Bears with 16 points and Daniel Mayfield scored 10. Mammoth Spring is now 11-8 on the season.

The Bakersfield girls picked up a win in the Bradleyville Tournament with a 70-47 decision over Lutie.
