Two area high school girls’ basketball teams went to Jonesboro Saturday and competed in the quarterfinals of the NEA Invitational Basketball Tournament.
Izard County was eliminated by the top-seeded team in the Division I bracket. The Lady Cougars fell to Riverside 67-19.
Melbourne will be Riverside’s opponent in Tuesday’s semifinals. The Lady Bearkatz eliminated Marmaduke by a final of 62-59. Reagan Rapert led Melbourne with 25 points, and Halle Cooper added 15.
