The Gainesville High School girls’ basketball team won its quarterfinal game Wednesday in the Mountain Grove Holiday Tournament. The Lady Bulldogs defeated Mansfield by a final of 48-40.
Two area boys’ basketball teams played in the quarterfinals of the Cabool Holiday Tournament. Gainesville fell to Thayer 43-25, and Dora beat up on Winona 71-47.
Melbourne’s boys lost their opener in the Ronnie Brogdon Christmas Classic at Highland. The Bearkatz were defeated by Manila 73-52 at the A.L. Hutson Memorial Center.
