Shotgun found in tennis bag during home visit in Marion County

A home visit in Marion County by probation and parole officers has led to the arrest of a Boone County woman, 37-year-old Amanda Baskin.

According to the probable cause affidavit made available Friday, Marion County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence December 19th along County Road 5010 to assist the probation and parole officers.

Two individuals, including Baskin, were in custody when deputies arrived. Baskin also had warrants out of Newton and Pope counties. A search of her bedroom revealed used needles and a glass smoking pipe. A further search of the room revealed a breach loading .410 shotgun in a tennis racket bag inside a closet. Baskin is a convicted felon out of Pope County.

She has been charged with felony counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a firearm by certain persons. Her bond was set at $5,000.
