Baxter County Treasurer Jenay Mize has announced she will be seeking a fourth term in the 2018 election cycle.

Mize says her office is responsible for helping prepare a $15.1 million annual budget. Other duties include distributing all tax collections to the taxing entities on a monthly basis. Her office is also responsible for the receipt and accounting of all the monies for the county, as well as printing all the checks for the county under her office’s authority.

Mize says one of the most noteworthy accomplishments during her tenure is the capability to distribute to the taxing entities by direct deposit. In addition, she says the budget process is more streamlined than in the past.

Mize was elected to the Arkansas County Treasurers Association’s continuing education board by her fellow treasurers in 2017. She has also served a mentor for a fellow treasurer.

Prior to public office, Mize served as Norfork School District’s district treasurer for 16 years. She also served as an accountant for the Baxter Bulletin for almost 10 years prior to her time with the Norfork School District.

Mize, says she is very honored and thankful to serve as Baxter County’s treasurer and wants to continue serving its citizens.

Mize is married to Kenneth, and they have three married children and five grandchildren.
