Bradley Ray Deweese, Jr., of rural Mountain Home made a first appearance in Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday and entered a not guilty plea to charges stemming from the alleged theft of checks as well as an altercation involving his father and stepmother in which DeWeese is reported to have pushed his stepmother into a window shattering the glass.

On November 20th last year, Bradley Ray DeWeese, Sr., came to the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office to report the theft of checks that had been taken from his residence between August 1st and November 20th. The elder Deweese said his son lived at the residence at the time and also had people visit and he felt either his 33-year-old son or the son’s visitors could have stolen the checks.

Two checks were written to Wal Mart on the father’s account. Both checks were found to have the son’s driver’s license number on them and video from the store shows Bradley Deweese,Jr., along with a female, purchasing items at a register. Store records showed the two stolen checks were used as payment for the items purchased.

On November 23rd, the father reported that his son had come to his residence to retrieve his personal belongings while moving out. He said his son had become argumentative and physical. The father said his wife attempted to call 911 to report the disturbance. When Deweese, Jr., saw her making the call, he took the phone from her hand and pushed her into a dining room window shattering the glass.

After he broke the phone, Deweese, Jr., fled the scene before deputies arrived.

The stepmother filed a petition with the court requesting that an order of protection be issued to keep Deweese, Jr., away from her residence. She alleges in her affidavit that Deweese, Jr., not only punched her, he also threatened to kill her and burn down the residence in which his father and stepmother lived.

Bradley Deweese, Jr., faces a number of charges, including theft of property, forgery, domestic battery and interference with emergency communications.

He was ordered to reappear in Circuit Court on March 15th.
