Local authorities from the Mountain Home Police Department and the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office advise those who have to get out today to use caution as side roads in the city and across the county remain ice covered and slick. Sergeant Robert McCoy from the Mountain Home Police Department says the main roads and highways are generally clear with ice in spots. Cardinal and College Streets have higher amounts of patchy ice, while many side roads remain ice covered.
Sergeant Dwight Duch, from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, says
those conditions are similar to what he observed Sunday night across the county.

Duch says several accidents were reported during the day Sunday and a few vehicles had slid into ditches Sunday night due to ice on the roadway. He advises to leave early if planning to go out Monday.

No major incidents were reported over the weekend. McCoy says Mountain Home Police did have a short pursuit on their hands after intoxicated juveniles were caught doing donuts at the Mountain Home High School parking lot. The pursuit ended after their vehicle crashed on Western Hills Way, not far from the high school. Due to their age their names were not released and they were turned over to juvenile authorities.
