Management from the local Family Dollar store, at the Ozark Shopping Center on Main Street in Mountain Home, have confirmed the store is closing its doors for good January 21st. According to reports from across the nation, Family Dollar announced in April 2017 the company was shutting down 323 Family Dollar locations not involved in a 2015 merger with Dollar Tree.
The Charlotte Observer reported Dollar General is purchasing the 323 stores from parent company Dollar Express, which operates a portion of Family Dollar locations nationwide. That report says some of the 323 stores shutting down could reopen as Dollar General Stores.
Dollar General Store spokesperson Angela Petkovic says there are currently no plans for another Dollar General in Baxter County.
An e-mail to Family Dollar media relations, sent January 9th, was not returned.
