Students from across the Twin Lakes Area participated in the Baxter County Spelling Bee at the Vada Sheid Community Development Center on the campus of ASU-Mountain Home Wednesday. Cotter sixth grader Paige Sexauer took home the first place trophy, and her brother, Cotter seventh grader Ethan, took second. Mountain Home fourth grader Declan Whitlock placed third. Ethan Sexauer was last year’s first place winner.

After a series of trying words, Paige won by spelling the word “spree.”

She will move on to compete at the state level usually held in the first weekend of March.

Students participating in this year’s event were from Cotter, Mountain Home Christian Academy and Mountain Home Public Schools.
