The Twin Lakes Area is mourning the death of Baxter County Sheriff’s Sgt. Eric Neal. The 45-year-old Neal died unexpectedly Thursday.

Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery in a Facebook posting Friday says, “It is with the utmost sorrow and a heavy heart that we have to announce the passing of one of our own. Sheriff’s Sgt. Eric Neal, who had been with the Sheriff’s Office since 2001 and who had worked in law enforcement with other agencies prior to that, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly last evening. Sgt. Neal’s current assignment was as the Assistant Jail Administrator. He had previously been assigned to the patrol division and the criminal investigation division at various times throughout his career.

“Sgt. Neal’s passing leaves a void in the hearts and lives of those who knew him. Please keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time.”
