Bids approved for 2 area highway projects

The Arkansas State Highway Commission has approved bids for improvements to roadways in Fulton and Marion counties, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation officials.

In Fulton County, the project will resurface 9.9 miles of State Highway 9 between the Izard County line and U.S. Highway 62.

Dilbeck Excavation, Inc. of Mountain Home was awarded the contract at just over $2 million.

In Marion County, the project will reconstruct 2.2 miles of County Road 6 from the Searcy County line and continuing northwest.

Marion County Paving, LLC of Summit was awarded the contract at over $1.5 million.

Construction on both projects is scheduled to begin in two to four weeks. Completion of the Fulton County project is expected in mid-2018, while the Marion County project is expected in mid-2019.
