Voters in the Valley Springs School District have approved a property tax increase. Nearly five months after a similar request was defeated, unofficial election results show voters were in favor of the measure with 57-percent approval.

According to the Harrison Daily Times, the property tax increase will help finance $6.8 million to build a new 24,000-square foot high school building, renovate 7,000 square feet in the current high school building for offices and improve areas of the current administration wing and library for special needs classes and technology.
