Edge announces for BC quorum court seat

Former Baxter County Quorum Court member Maryanne Edge has announced her intention to run for the Justice of the Peace position for District 5. The seat is currently held by James Kerr, Jr. who announced at the conclusion of the quorum court meeting Tuesday night he he will not be seeking re-election.

Edge says in her announcement she has considerable experience in county government. She served on the quorum court in 2014, having been appointed by Governor Mike Beebe to complete an unexpired term. Edge served as the records management coordinator for the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office Administrative Department, retiring in 2013.   She says she has deep legal experience, having worked as a legal secretary for 23 years, including seven years with attorney and former prosecutor Terry Poynter.

Edge says she is a conservative Republican and is passionate about serving the citizens of Baxter County. She believes in preserving the county’s heritage and serves on the board of directors of the Mountain Home Cemetery and is a member and past President of the Baxter County Historical and Genealogical Society.

Edge moved to Baxter County with her family in 1959 and is a graduate of Mountain Home High School. She has resided in District 5 for 14 years.
