Norfork girls are among conference championship winners

The 1A-2 North Conference Tournament came to an end Saturday at Calico Rock.
Norfork’s girls returned home with the championship trophy after beating Mammoth Spring 72-32. Brianna Hocum led the Lady Bears with 13 points. The Lady Panthers improve to 37-1, and they will meet Ridgefield Christian in the Class 1A Region 2 Tournament Wednesday at Armorel. Mammoth Spring falls to 27-9, and their first regional opponent will be Armorel on Thursday.
Calico Rock fell short of the boys’ title as they lost to Izard County 61-44. The Cougars were led by Caleb Faulkner with 21 points, Mike Uecker had 13 points and ten rebounds, and Justus Cooper added ten points and ten boards. The Pirates will be paired with Rector Thursday in the regional tournament. Izard County is now 32-2 on the year, and their opponent at Armorel will be Ridgefield Christian.

The 3A-1 East Conference Tournament held its remaining games at Valley Springs.
Yellville-Summit took third place on the boys’ bracket after defeating Marshall 63-51. The Panthers will meet Osceola Thursday in the Class 3A Region 3 Tournament at Melbourne, and the Bobcats will be paired with Manila on Wednesday.
The boys’ championship went to the host Tigers as they topped Clinton 55-47. Valley Springs’ first regional opponent will be Corning on Wednesday.
The girls’ title game ended with Melbourne falling to Mountain View 68-40. The Lady Bearkatz will matched up with Corning Thursday in the regional tournament, and the Lady Yellowjackets will face Rivercrest on Wednesday.
Bergman’s girls finished fourth place with a 44-37 loss to Valley Springs. The Lady Panthers will take on Riverside on Wednesday, and the Lady Tigers will meet Hoxie Thursday in a rematch of last year’s Class 3A state championship game.

The postseason got underway Saturday in Missouri, and Dora began hosting the Class 1, District 4 Tournament.
Bakersfield’s girls advanced to Monday’s semifinals after beating up on Koshkonong 70-45. The Lady Lions improve to 10-16 on the season.
Bradleyville will be Bakersfield’s next opponent. Lutie fell to the top-seeded Lady Eagles 79-21. The Lady Indians’ season comes to an end with a record of 4-18.
Dora will move on to the semifinals after routing Niangua 42-15. The host Lady Falcons are now 16-10 on the year, and they’ll be paired with Chadwick on Monday.
Bakersfield also moved to the semifinals on the boys’ bracket following a 65-42 victory over Chadwick. The Lions’ record is now at 11-14.
Bakersfield’s next opponent on Tuesday will be Dora. The top-seeded Falcons pounded Niangua 92-22. Dora improves to 22-5 on the season.
Lutie’s year came to an end as they fell to Couch 79-39. The Indians’ final record is 1-21.

Gainesville’s girls were victorious in their first game in the Class 2, District 4 Tournament at Norwood. The Lady Bulldogs edged out the host Lady Pirates 52-50. Gainesville is now 19-8 on the year, and they’ll take on Fordland in Tuesday’s semifinals.
