Several local teams fall in district play; Dora boys advance to finals

The season came to an end Tuesday for Bakersfield’s boys in the Class 1, District 4 Tournament at Dora. The Lions fell to the top-seeded Falcons in the semifinals by a score of 71-47. Bakersfield’s final record is 11-15. Dora improves to 23-5 on the year, and they’ll face Bradleyville in the championship game on Friday.

The Gainesville girls were eliminated from the semifinals of the Class 2, District 4 Tournament at Norwood. The Lady Bulldogs lost to Fordland 39-34. Gainesville finishes its season with a mark of 19-9.

Two area boys’ teams were one and done in the Class 3, District 11 Tournament at Strafford.
Hollister suffered a 66-39 loss to Fair Grove. The Tigers finish the season at 9-16.
Forsyth was bounced by Clever who posted the 79-66 decision. The Panthers conclude the year at 20-7.

Ava’s boys suffered a similar fate in the opening round of the Class 3, District 10 Tournament at Mountain Grove. The Bears fell to Licking 67-47. Ava’s season comes to an end at 8-16.
