Lady Bombers come up short in conference tourney 3rd place game

The Mountain Home High School girl’s basketball team traveled to Jonesboro Saturday for the third place game of the 6A East Conference Tournament but came up short against the number one seed.

Jonesboro never trailed in the game and posted a 42-34 win. The Lady Hurricane used a 12-2 run in the first half to build a 23-14 halftime lead. Mountain Home opened the third quarter with a 7-0 run to pull within two but could get no closer the rest of the way. Jonesboro had an 8-0 run to start the fourth quarter to push the lead to 11 and Mountain Home could not recover.

Hannah Pfiefer paced the Lady Bombers with 15 points. Mountain Home falls to 14-15 on the season.

For Jonesboro, Kayla Mitchell and Brooklyn Dooley each scored 11 points.

The Lady Bombers will open play in the Class 6A State Tournament Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 in West Memphis against Benton in a rematch of last year’s first round game.
