MH girls among local basketball teams in tournament play Saturday

High school basketball makes up much of the local Saturday schedule as Mountain Home’s girls will be on the road to finish conference tournament play. The Lady Bombers look to head into the state tournament on a winning note as they meet Jonesboro in the third place game of the 6A-East Conference Tournament.
Mountain Home is the second-seeded team in the tournament. The Lady Bombers are currently 14-14 on the season after losing their semifinal game to Marion on Tuesday. Jonesboro will have home court advantage as the top seed in the tournament. The Lady Hurricane fell to 22-7 Tuesday when they were upset by West Memphis.
Tip-off at Don Riggs Memorial Coliseum is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday’s game can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.

Elsewhere, the Class 1A Region 2 Tournament will come to an end at Armorel. The third place games will have the early session as the Mammoth Spring girls tip off at noon against Maynard, and Izard County’s boys meet Rector at 1:30. The Norfork girls will play for the tournament championship as they take on Bay at 6:00.

Rural Special’s girls will compete for third place in the Class 1A Region 3 Tournament at West Side High School in Greers Ferry. The Lady Rebels face Concord at noon.

The Class 1A Region 1 Tournament will hold its remaining games at Alpena. In the third place games, the Lead Hill girls will be paired with the host Lady Leopards at noon, and the boys’ contest is set for 1:30 between Omaha and Western Grove. Jasper’s girls will play Kingston for the title at 6:00.

Melbourne will finish hosting the Class 3A Region 3 Tournament. The Lady Bearkatz tip off for third place at noon against Hoxie, and the boys’ game between Valley Springs and Manila will follow at 1:30. The Mountain View girls will look to bring home the championship trophy as they meet Riverside at 6:00.

District play begins for the larger schools in Missouri, both of Branson’s teams will begin action the Class 5, District 11 Tournament at Ozark. The Lady Pirates take the court first as they face Springfield Glendale at 1:00, and the Branson boys take on Springfield Parkview at 2:45.
