MH girls begin state tournament at West Memphis

State tournament play continues for high school basketball in Arkansas, and Wednesday will be the first game of the week for Mountain Home’s girls. The Lady Bombers will be in West Memphis as they meet Benton in the opening round of the Class 6A State Tournament.
Mountain Home comes into the tournament after finishing fourth in the 6A-East Conference Tournament. The Lady Bombers are 14-15 following their loss Saturday at Jonesboro.
Benton the fifth-seeded team from the West with a record of 15-13. Mountain Home head coach Dell Leonard says the Lady Panthers will be a tough matchup for his squad.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday’s game can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.

Two local teams will play their first games in the Class 1A State Tournament at Morrilton. The Mammoth Spring girls face Ouachita at 7:00, and Izard County’s boys take on Nevada at 8:30.

Two area teams will be at Drew Central High School in Monticello for their openers in the Class 3A State Tournament. The Melbourne girls tip off at 1:00 against Two Rivers, and Valley Springs’ boys play Perryville at 2:30.
