MHHS soccer teams sweep Green Forest in season openers

The Mountain Home High School soccer teams officially got their season started by sweeping Green Forest at home Tuesday night.

The Lady Bombers were dominate in a 7-0 win. Sarah Swonger scored four goals including an “own goal” when she was the closest player and a Green Forest defensive player kicked the ball into the Mountain Home goal. Also scoring goals for the Lady Bombers were Grace Beckham, Lauren Helmert and Emma Jones. Chloe Nosari had two assists.
Green Forest only crossed midfield one time and had no shots on goal.

The Bombers were 5-0 winners. Talyn Benton and Paul Athiconnanta each scored two goals and Florian Oberdorfer scored one goal. Ewan Platt had two assists and Coby Weber had one. Mountain Home out-shot the Tigers 21-5.

Mountain Home won the J.V. boy’s game 1-0. Carlos Cardenas scored the goal on a corner kick by Chris Matuziak in the final ten seconds.

The Mountain Home soccer teams will travel to Huntsville Friday.
