MH, Norfork girls among local teams in state quarterfinals Friday

High school basketball makes up the local Friday schedule as state tournaments around Arkansas will wrap up their quarterfinal rounds.

Mountain Home’s girls will return to West Memphis for their second game in the Class 6A State Tournament. The Lady Bombers will be paired with Greenwood in the quarterfinals.
Mountain Home came into the tournament as the fourth-seeded teem from the East. The Lady Bombers improved to 15-15 on the season Wednesday when they opened the tournament with a ten-point victory over Benton.
This will be Greenwood’s first game in the tournament. The Lady Bulldogs ended up with a first round bye as the top seed from the West.
Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. Friday’s game can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.

The Norfork girls will be back in Morrilton for the quarterfinals of the Class 1A State Tournament. The Lady Panthers’ next opponent will be Alpena.
Norfork began the tournament as the champions of Region 2. The Lady Panthers began their run in the state tournament with a 33-point victory Tuesday over Rural Special. Alpena is the number three seed from Region 1. The Lady Leopards beat up on Strong on Thursday.

Also in the Class 1A State Tournament, Mammoth Spring’s girls get underway at 1:00 against Kirby, the Izard County boys meet Kirby at 2:30, and Western Grove’s boys take on Bay at 5:30.

Two area girls’ teams will take part in the Class 3A State Tournament at Drew Central High School in Monticello. Mountain View faces Rose Bud at 4:00, and Melbourne plays Junction City at 7:00.

The Harrison boys will be back in Maumelle for the quarterfinals of the Class 5A State Tournament. The Gobins meet Little Rock Parkview at 2:30.
