Arkansas Highway Commission approves a number of area improvements

The Arkansas State Highway Commission has approved a bid for improvements to roadways in Boone, Izard and Stone Counties, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.

The purpose of the Boone County project is to resurface selected sections of approximately just over one mile of various city streets in Diamond City. The sections are Dove, Skyline Drive, Greenwood Drive, Fire Station Access Road, Sherwood Drive and Gateway.

Hutchens Construction Company, of Cassville, was awarded the contract at $291,493.55. Construction is scheduled to begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting. Completion is expected in mid-2018.

The purpose of the project in Izard County is to resurface selected sections of approximately two miles of County Road 55 and approximately 1.3 miles of County Road 61.

Atlas Asphalt, Inc. of Batesville was awarded the contract at $424,811.06.
Construction is scheduled to begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting. Completion is also expected in mid-2018.

Also scheduled to be completed in mid-2018 is resurfacing approximately 1.9 miles of County Road 46, starting at State Highway 14 and continuing northward, in Stone County.

Atlas Asphalt, Inc. of Batesville was awarded the contract at $227,451.51.
Construction is scheduled to begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting.
