Felon found in possession of multiple weapons during search

A convicted felon from Searcy County, 65-year-old Frank Nance of St. Joe, has been charged with possession of firearms by a certain person.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Friday, a search warrant was conducted at a residence along Spring Lake Lane in St. Joe in late August 2017. The search was conducted by officers from the Marion County Sheriff's Office and the State Police Crimes Against Children Division on an unrelated incident.

During the course of the search, several guns were found in an area Nance had direct access to. While in the bedroom of the residence, eight guns were found under the mattress of a bed, in a dresser drawer, and in a filing cabinet. With Nance being a felon, he is prohibited from possessing or being in direct contact with firearms.

Nance's bond was set at $10,000. Online records with the Marion County Detention Center indicate he was released the same morning he was booked into the jail.
