MH baseball sweep of Batesville among Tuesday results

In high school baseball Tuesday, Mountain Home swept their 6A/5A-2 District opener at Batesville.
Mountain Home won the first game 16-1 which included a six run sixth inning. Ben Henderson got the win on the mound, working five innings, allowing two hits and striking out six. The Bombers pounded out 19 hits in the contest with Luke Dibble, Armando Alvarez, Henderson, Garrett Steelman, Gage McClain, Austin Mize and Josh Prinner each having multiple hits.
In the second game, Mountain Home defeated Batesville 8-2. Will Gross was the winning pitcher, scattering six hits and striking out eight in four and two-thirds innings. Offensively, Henderson, Drake Patrick, Alvarez and Trace Aungst each drove in runs and Steelman went three for four.

The Mountain Home 9th grade team won a wild one at home, topping Lifeway Christian out of Centerton 24-19. Mountain Home scored 18 runs in the fourth inning.
The 9th Grade Bombers play Yellville-Summit Thursday.

The Izard County Junior Cougars won their season opener by defeating White County Central 5-2 at Judsonia.
Gunner Gleghorn was the winning pitcher. Garrett Roberts and Keith Melton each had two hits for the Junior Cougars while Gleghorn drove in two.
