An accident leaving a vehicle on its side in the middle of Highway 5 South Wednesday at noon has sent one man to Baxter Regional Medical Center with a broken wrist. An official crash report has not yet been released, and the injured man’s name is not known.

The accident occurred just two blocks north of the Norfork Bridge. Norfork Fire Chief Frankie Baker says when emergency personnel were dispatched to the rollover accident, they found the vehicle on its side, in the middle of the highway. The victim was on the high side of the vehicle with his seatbelt on. The back windshield was gone, allowing responders to wrap a blanket over the man. The front windshield had to be removed from the vehicle, and the seatbelt cut for him to be safely removed.

Baker says it appears a broken wrist was the extent of the injuries the victim suffered.
