Friday marks the second day of state championship high school basketball, and the first of two area teams in Hot Springs this week will take the floor. Mountain View’s girls will compete for the Class 3A state championship as their opponent will be Charleston.

Mountain View comes into the game with a record of 29-2 according to MaxPreps. The Lady Yellowjackets came into the tournament as the champions of Region 3. Mountain View’s last game was Saturday when they defeated Melbourne 63-40 in the semifinals.

This could potentially be the Lady Yellowjackets’ second state championship in this decade. Mountain View took home the title in 2011 when they edged out Valley Springs 37-35.

Charleston is 22-8 on the season. The Lady Tigers entered the state tournament as the runners-up of Region 1. Charleston punched its ticket to Hot Springs on Saturday with a 46-40 semifinal victory over Lamar.
