Accident Thursday takes out NAEC power pole

An early morning accident Thursday, on Highway 62 East in Mountain Home, took out a North Arkansas Electric Cooperative power pole and left a number of residents without power for just under an hour. According to a motor vehicle crash report from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office obtained Friday, no one was injured in the crash, however the vehicle had to be towed from the scene.Lakeview resident Van E. Clark Sr. was driving a westbound vehicle, at 2:18 Thursday morning, when he came upon several deer on the highway near the intersection of Pioneer Trail Drive. Clark says he swerved to miss them, struck a tree stump and then a power pole, shearing it off the ground. Clarks’ vehicle then crossed another driveway to a storage facility and struck one of the units head on, spinning the vehicle until it came to rest.

The damage to the storage facility was estimated at $4,000.

The were no charges or citations issued in connection with the crash.
