28 local athletes among All-State basketball selections

The Arkansas Activities Association released its list of All-State teams from the high school basketball season, and 28 local athletes received the honor.

Mountain Home had one player named to the All-State roster for Class 6A. Hannah Pfeifer represents the Lady Bombers on the girls’ side.

Sixteen area high school students were named All-State in Class 1A. The girls’ squad includes Marleigh Dodson and Ivy McGowan of Norfork, Mammoth Spring’s Whitlee Layne, Madison Phillips of St. Joe, Katie Roubique of Timbo, Kaya Huebner of Lead Hill and Jasper’s Sierra Johnson and Leah Shellnut. The boys’ team’s local athletes are Sagen Godwin of Mammoth Spring, Izard County’s Justus Cooper and Caleb Faulkner, Kyler Gammill of Timbo, Garrett Matlock of Omaha, Western Grove’s Hunter Baker and Caleb Carter of Jasper.

One local student was selected for the All-State squad in Class 2A. Salem is represented by Kayla Walling on the girls’ roster.

Seven local athletes were named All-State in Class 3A. The boys’ team includes Jared Chaney of Melbourne, Jacob Loggins of Marshall and Valley Springs’ Lawson Jenkins. The girls’ squad includes Reagan Rapert of Melbourne, Cheyenne Shelton and Kaley Shipman of Mountain View and Bergman’s Jessie Van Lear.

Harrison is represented by three athletes on the Class 5A All-State rosters. Carson Jernigan and Skyler Young was selected on the boys’ side, and Brylie Parker was the only Lady Goblin to receive the honor.
