The Mountain Home High School Quiz Bowl team took home first place at the 6A Regional Quiz Bowl competition, which was hosted at Mountain Home High School. In addition to their first place title, the high school quiz bowl team also went undefeated for the entirety of the tournament. Participating team members were Senior Avery Renshaw (Team Captain), Senior Hope Menendez, Senior Kara Smeltzer, Senior Brett Stockfish, Senior Madelyn Yates, Junior Simon Podsiadlik, and Sophomore Anna Rogero.
The team started off the tournament with a match against Benton. According to the high school quiz bowl coach and faculty sponsor Madison Ingle, the match was a tightly-contested, back-and-forth game, ultimately won by Mountain Home 225-210. This match was followed by another two wins for Mountain Home, the first match was against West Memphis with a score of 290-135 and the second was played against Sheridan with a score of 220-180.
The last match of the tournament was played against Searcy. Mountain Home started the final match sluggish, as they were down 80-30 after the first quarter, but managed to make a comeback, winning the match 235 to 201. As the only 4-0 team for the competition, the Mountain Home High School Quiz Bowl team earned the title for the 6A Regional competition and will advance to the State Quiz Bowl Competition in Cabot on April 7th.
