(AP) – Authorities have captured a patient from the Arkansas
State Hospital and the psychologist accused of taking him from the facility without permission.

Arkansas State Hospital police said Monday that former psychological examiner Michelle Messer and Cory Chapin were located at a home in North Las Vegas, Nevada and taken into custody. Both are being held at the Clark County Detention Center in Nevada.

Messer was being held on a misdemeanor charge of aiding Chapin’s departure
from the hospital and faces a felony charge of providing prohibited articles to a patient. Messer is accused of taking Chapin last week after she was questioned about contraband Chapin had received.

Chapin was committed to the hospital after he was acquitted in 2015 by reason of mental illness of attempted kidnapping and other charges.
