Izard County to host North Arkansas All-Star Basketball Classic

Several outgoing high school seniors will gather at Izard County High School in Brockwell this weekend. The sixth-annual North Arkansas All-Star Basketball Classic is scheduled for Saturday evening at the Cougar Den.

In the boys’ game, Sagen Godwin of Mammoth Spring, Jared Cheney of Melbourne and Harrison’s Colton Youngblood have committed to play in the classic. Other student athletes invited to participate include Landon Martin of Cotter, Logan Jewell of Salem, Brendan Sneathern of Calico Rock, Izard County’s Ethan Mohlke and Rory Bell, Colby Morgan and Landon Edwards of Melbourne and Spencer Graddy of Valley Springs.

Salem’s Kaylea Walling and Mountain View’s Cheyenne Shelton are committed to participate in the girls’ contest. Other seniors selected for the game include Alexa Wooten and Hannia Garay of Cotter; Yellville-Summit’s Taylor McFarland; Quincy Humphries of Salem; Megan Hiles and Kallie Fry of Calico Rock; Izard County’s Harley Thomason, Abby Brashear and Kaitlyn Tullis; Macey Decker of Mountain View; and Brylee Graddy and Callie Ray of Valley Springs.

The girls’ game tips off at 6 p.m., the finals of the dunk and three-point contests will follow, and the boys’ game is scheduled for 8:00. Admission is five dollars.
