Two Mountain Home residents were arrested Friday morning on drug and weapons charges. According to Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery, 31-year-old Zachary Bales and 23-year-old Taylor Dewitt were transported to the Baxter County Detention Center based on information supplied to investigators by an informant.

A search warrant was executed at a residence on West North Street, and investigators located approximately 4.6 grams of methamphetamine, articles of drug paraphernalia, and two firearms including a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun. Bales and Dewitt were transported to the sheriff’s office for further investigation.

Bales faces felony counts of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) with purpose to deliver, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal use of a prohibited weapon, possession of firearms by certain persons (convicted felon) and firearms possession during commission of another crime. He is currently being held without bond and has been booked into the Baxter County Detention Center 16 times since 2012.

Dewitt faces two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) with purpose to deliver and one count each of criminal use of a prohibited weapon and firearms possession during commission of another crime. Her bond is set at $25,000, and she has been booked into the detention center three times since last year.

Bales and Dewitt are scheduled to appear in Baxter County Circuit Court later this month. The investigation is continuing, and additional charges on another case are expected. The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Arkansas State Police, 14th Judicial District Drug Task Force and the Mountain Home Police Department.
