Baxter County inmates accused of burglarizing convenience store

A pair of Mountain Home residents currently in the Baxter County Detention Center on drug and weapons charges are being considered two of three suspects in the burglary of a convenience store. According to Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery, 31-year-old Zachary Bales and 23-year-old Taylor Dewitt, along with 25-year-old Anthony Dechow of Mountain Home, are charged with commercial burglary and theft of property.

The owner of the Buzzard Roost Citgo contacted the sheriff’s office Friday to report a commercial burglary and theft. Investigators processed the scene and reportedly observed on video surveillance an unknown suspect break the glass on the front door and gain entrance to the business. The suspect was allegedly observed taking cash from the cash registers, cigarettes and an unknown number of lottery tickets.

Later that day, Mountain Home Police investigators received information of three possible suspects in the case. Based upon this and other evidence gathered at the scene, a search warrant was obtained and executed.

Bales was already facing felony counts of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) with purpose to deliver, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal use of a prohibited weapon, possession of firearms by certain persons (convicted felon) and firearms possession during commission of another crime. His bond was set at $35,000 bond.

Dewitt is also facing two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) with purpose to deliver and one count each of criminal use of a prohibited weapon and firearms possession during commission of another crime. Her bond was set at $25,000.

Dechow is also charged with a parole violation. He is in the detention center with no bond.

All three are currently being held in the Baxter County Detention Center pending their appearance in Baxter County Circuit Court.
