A complaint of several students skipping school led to the arrest of a Mountain Home man. Twenty-one-year-old Jacob Easley was booked Friday afternoon into the Baxter County Detention Center on multiple felony counts related to drugs. His bond is set at $5,000.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Mountain Home Police Officer James Tilley was contacted by Sergeant Eddie Helmert in reference to the complaint involving several students who may be skipping school. Both officers went to the address on Katherine Drive in Mountain Home. After they made contact with the occupants, there was allegedly a distinct odor of burned marijuana from the open door, and Sergeant Helmert reports he could see green marijuana on a plate and numerous smoking devices on a coffee table. Officer Tilley went to the back door of the residence, and it was opened by a male and female.

As he instructed both to open the front door, Officer Tilley reported he could also smell burned marijuana. Sergeant Helmert asked Officer Tilley to come around to the front of the house, and Tilley says he observed the marijuana in plain view and asked who else was in the residence. The individuals in the living room made vague statements. Officer Tilley advised them he was at the back door, and the two he spoke to were not in the room. The two in the living room continued to deny anyone else was in the residence.

Officer Tilley walked toward the back door to clear the residence and found a small hallway to the right. He announced he was in the residence, and anyone else in there needed to make themselves known. Four individuals, including the two he saw at the back door, came out of the garage area. As they went to sit in the living room with Sergeant Helmert, Officer Tilley entered the garage and located a male subject ducked down in a corner. The male went to join the others in the living room, and Tilley reportedly found burnt marijuana cigarettes lying on a table in the garage. He then went into the back bedrooms and observed marijuana smoking devices and a mason jar containing suspected marijuana. Officer Tilley returned to the living room with Sergeant Helmert and the 11 individuals located in the residence. Six were confirmed minors by either state-issued or school-issued identification.

Additional officers were requested to assist at the scene, and once they arrived, all individuals were identified by state-issued or school-issued IDs. It was determined one of the individuals, identified as Easley, was on active supervision with Arkansas Community Correction, and he had a search waiver on file. Two officers went to Easley’s bedroom, and he cooperated with the search and pointed out some items. The officers allegedly located a glass mason jar with marijuana as identified by Easley, a wooden box containing plastic baggies, a small baggie containing cylicybin mushrooms, a blue tumbler cup with suspected marijuana and another blue tumbler cup with a large amount of cash. A black smoking device was reportedly found in the closet, and three firearms were located under the bed. A small black digital scale was also located on the coffee table in the living room.

Easley faces felony charges of simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of a controllled substance with purpose to deliver (marijuana), possession of a controlled substance (cylicybin mushrooms) and possession of drug paraphernalia for use of distribution of marijuana. He also faces misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia for use of ingestion of marijuana and endangering the welfare of a minor.

He is scheduled to appear next month in Baxter County Circuit Court.
