An arrest in Wright County led to the discovery of a deceased Ozark County man. According to Ozark County Sheriff Darrin Reed, 73-year-old Lawrence Clinton Brostedt of the Foil/Squires area is suspected to be the victim of a homicide and burglary, and three suspects are in custody in connection with his death.

Sheriff Reed says his office received a call from the Mountain Grove Police Department of a male subject in custody on a Wright County warrant, and he allegedly had three personal checks belonging to Brostedt. Ozark County authorities went to the Brostedt’s residence to conduct a well-being check and reportedly found the home to have been burglarized. Police proceeded to enter the residence through a detached garage door where they found a large tarp lying on the garage floor. Blood could be seen on the floor, and deputies proceeded to lift the tarp to reveal what was believed to be a body in a second tarp, bound tightly by rope. The body was revealed to be that of Mr. Brostedt. Evidence allegedly shows Brostedt was ambushed from behind and shot in the back of the head. He lived alone at his residence.

An additional suspect has reportedly fled the state of Missouri. Sheriff Reed reports he expects a total of five suspects to be charged in connection with the burglary and homicide of Brostedt. Charges are expected to be filed Sunday.
