Arkansas Education Commissioner Johnny Key is scheduled to visit Mountain Home Kindergarten and Nelson-Wilks-Herron Elementary School Tuesday morning. Commissioner Key will be accompanied by Senator Joyce Elliott of Little Rock. Senator Elliott is a retired educator and serves as vice chair of the Senate education committee.

The visit is scheduled to celebrate the Mountain Home Public School district’s work with the RISE Arkansas initiative. RISE or Reading Initiative for Student Excellence encourages a culture of reading by coordinating a statewide reading campaign with community partners, parents, and teachers to establish the importance of reading in homes, schools and communities.

Key and Elliott are scheduled to visit Mountain Home Kindergarten classrooms beginning at 8:10.
