Three Baxter County men have been arrested by the Cotter Police Department after the vehicle they were traveling in became disabled at a city intersection.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the three arrested were 42-year-old Alexander Peterson and 53-year-old Ronald Culver, both of Mountain Home, and 30-year-old John Shrum of Gassville. All three had active search waivers on file.

Upon search of the disabled vehicle, the Cotter Police officer discovered a glass methamphetamine pipe, a used methamphetamine syringe and needle next to the center console, a loaded syringe and needle with suspected methamphetamine next to the driver’s seat, a small needle next to the rear passenger seat and a small black safe on the floor by the driver’s seat. With the combination provided by the vehicle’s driver, the safe was found to contain both methamphetamine and marijuana, as well as drug paraphernalia.

The three men are each charged with felony counts of possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as two misdemeanor drug offenses.

Online records indicate bonds for Peterson and Culver were set at $10,000, with Shrum’s at $7,500.

Shrum entered guilty pleas in Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday to charges stemming from this incident, as well as an earlier incident involving drug-related charges.

He was sentenced to 12 months in one of the Community Correction centers in the state, plus six years probation.

Peterson and Culver are scheduled to appear in Baxter County Circuit Court in May.
