MHHS soccer teams move into conference tourney title games

The Mountain Home High School soccer teams both moved in the 6A-East Conference championship games with wins Tuesday evening and both also earned first round byes for next week’s Class 6A State Tournament.

The Bombers won an exciting match at Searcy. The game was tied 0-0 at the end of regulation but Mountain Home won the penalty kick shootout 5-4. Joseph McCoy had seven goal saves during regulation and two during the shootout.

The Bombers improve to 16-1 on the season and will travel to top seeded Jonesboro Saturday for the conference tournament title.

The Lady Bombers cruised into the tournament championship with a 5-0 blowout of Jonesboro at home. Scoring goals for Mountain Home were Emma Jones, Grace Beckham and Sabra Wickersham. Sarah Swonger had three assists. Goalkeeper Emma Martin had two saves.

The Lady Bombers are now 14-3-2 and will take on top seeded Searcy on the road Saturday for the conference tournament title.
