Claude Rice of Mountain Home was sentenced to six years in prison on drug-related charges, including the possession of a quantity of LSD, during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

The initial arrest was made March 30th last year when Rice’s vehicle was stopped by a Mountain Home Police officer for an equipment violation.

The officer reported detecting the odor of marijuana coming from the inside of the vehicle. The 36-year-old Rice was asked to exit the vehicle so it could be searched.

According to court records, substances field testing positive for heroin and methamphetamine were found along with Oxycodone pills. A glass-smoking pipe with what was described as burnt marijuana was also located.

A handgun was found in the vehicle. Rice is a felon and not allowed to be in contact with firearms.

Rice’s second case was based on an arrest in June last year when officers went to a Mountain Home apartment complex to conduct a compliance check on a probationer. In addition to the residents of the apartment, Rice and others were present. During the search, drugs, including LSD, were found in the apartment, along with drug paraphernalia. Rice claimed ownership of the illegal substances and paraphernalia.
