Baseball and softball make up much of the local Thursday schedule as regional tournaments get underway in Arkansas.
The Class 3A Region 3 Baseball Tournament gets underway at the Equity Bank Sports Complex in Harrison with Bergman designated as the host. Yellville-Summit starts the action at 10 a.m. against Manila, Valley Springs meets Corning at 12:30, and Melbourne faces Piggott at 5:30.
Harrison will also be the location for the Class 1A Region 1 Tournament with Omaha as the designated host. The Eagles take on Jasper at 12:30, Bruno-Pyatt plays Alpena at 3:00, and Lead Hill will be paired with Decatur at 5:30.
The Class 1A Region 2 Tournament will begin at Izard County High School in Brockwell. Viola meets Ridgefield Christian at 10:00, the host Cougars face Armorel at 3:00, and Mammoth Spring takes on Bay at 5:30.
Salem will be in Lepanto to begin action in the Class 2A North Regional Tournament at East Poinsett County High School. The Greyhounds play Palestine-Wheatley at 12:30.
In other high school baseball, Bakersfield travels to Mountain View-Liberty.
Omaha will be the host school of the Class 1A Region 1 Softball Tournament at the Equity Bank Sports Complex. Lead Hill begins at 10:00 against Decatur, Jasper meets Shirley at 12:30, Bruno-Pyatt faces Omaha at 3:00, and Rural Special takes on Deer at 5:30.
The Class 1A Region 2 Tournament will start at Izard County. Calico Rock plays Maynard at 10:00, Izard County will be matched up with Rector at 3:00, and Viola meets Bay at 5:30.
Salem’s softball team will join the baseball squad at East Poinsett County for the Class 2A North Regional Tournament. The Lady Greyhounds faces Hazen at 3:00.
Bergman will host the Class 3A Region 3 Tournament at Harrison. Valley Springs takes on Rivercrest at 10:00, Mountain View plays Manila at 12:30, and Melbourne goes up against Walnut Ridge at 3:00.
