KTLO picks up 3 awards in Arkansas-Oklahoma AP contest

The 2017 Arkansas-Oklahoma Associated Press Broadcasters Contest Award winners were recently announced. KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot picked up three awards in two sports categories. This was the second year the two states were combined for the competition.

KTLO had the top two finishers in the Best Sports Reporting category. Matt Sharp won the first place award for “McClain Park opens for Mountain Home baseball, softball teams,” a two-part series about the ribbon cutting and first games played at Mountain Home High School’s new athletic complex. Brad Haworth finished second in the category with “Mountain Home woman selected for NBA dance team,” his story about Kayli Strain chosen to be a Grizz Girl for the Memphis Grizzlies.

In addition, Haworth won the first place award in the Best Play-By-Play category. Haworth was recognized for his broadcasts of Mountain Home Bomber basketball.
