One person has been killed and another injured in an early morning fire Wednesday in Harrison. The blaze killed 93-year-old Robert Routzong. The Harrison Daily Times reports one of the five residents of the house, Phillip Jones, was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Springfield for treatment for smoke inhalation. The three other residents of the home; Jacqueline Petty, her 15-year-old son Jared Alexander and Jones’ 16-year-old son Bradley Jones; were all treated and released at North Arkansas Medical Center.

The paper reports Alexander was awakened by screams from Routzong saying there was a fire. Alexander woke his mother and Jones up then he went to Routzong’s room. He said when he opened the door, flames were already rolling out of the room.

Jones sustained smoke inhalation when he went into the bedroom to try to get to Routzong.

Two dogs also died in the fire.
