10 arrested on drug charges

Ten people have been arrested in Izard County following a drug investigation with arrest warrants executed Tuesday by the Izard County Sheriff’s Department, the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force and the Arkansas State Police.

Izard County Sheriff Jack Yancey says the ten arrested are 43-year-old Rodney Paul Medling of Brockwell; 49-year-old Tammy Gayle Robinson and 62-year-old Danny Sturgis, both of Calico Rock; 53-year-old David Lee Rigdon and 32-year-old Kathryn Pitts, both of Oxford; 35-year-old Jimmy John Lewallen, 39-year-old Gregory Allen Jones and 33-year-old Erin Kay Couch, all of Melbourne; Tommy Franks, whose address was not provided; and 27-year-old Ashley Monique Webster of Mountain Home.

Yancey says Medling is being held in lieu of a $20,000 bond. At the time of his arrest, drug-related items were observed in plain sight of his residence. A search warrant was executed at Medling’’s residence, and he received more charges of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine less than two grams; use or possession with the purpose to use drug paraphernalia used for introducing methamphetamine into the human body; use or possession with the purpose to use drug paraphernalia with the purpose to compound, process, prepare, test, or analyze a controlled substance, methamphetamine; simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of firearm by certain persons, meaning Medling is a convicted felon, maintaining a drug premises; and a habitual offender enhancement. Medling received an additional $50,000 bond on the additional charges.

Sturgis was charged with two counts of delivery of a controlled substance, Schedule II methamphetamine, and two counts of distribution of a controlled substance near certain facilities. At time of his arrest, Sturgis was also charged with possession of a controlled substance, Schedule II cocaine, less than two grams. He is incarcerated in lieu of a $30,000 bond.

Pitts was charged with three counts of delivery of a controlled substance, Schedule II methamphetamine, less than two grams. She is being held in lieu of a $20,000 bond.

Jones is also being held in lieu of a $20,000 bond. He is charged with two counts of delivery of a controlled substance, Schedule II methamphetamine, less than two grams, and one count of delivery of a controlled substance, Schedule II methamphetamine, two grams or more but less than 10 grams.

Bonds for Rigdon, Lewallen, Franks, Webster and Couch were all $10,000 or less. A bond amount was not provided for Robinson.

Sheriff Yancey says more arrests are anticipated with this operation.
