The National Park Service is working with the Federal Highway Administration to make repairs in Erbie, located in Newton County, and public opinion is being sought.

Heavy rain and flooding over a three-day period in May of 2015 caused extensive damage to Compton-Erbie Road (County Road 19), County Road 57, and Erbie Campground Road (County Road 79). The proposed improvements would repair the damage and provide a more sustainable transportation facility.

The Environmental Assessment for these repairs is now open for review and comment through May 15th. Hard copies are available at Buffalo Point Ranger Station, Tyler Bend Visitor Center, Steel Creek Contact Station, Park Headquarters, Marion County Library, Searcy County Library, Newton County Library, and Boone County Library.

Comments can be submitted online at parkplanning.nps.gov/ErbieEA .

For more information about the projects, call the Buffalo National River State Park Office at 870-365-2700 or go online to their website at www.nps.gov/buff/ .
