Unemployment rates drop in March in the area

Unemployment numbers in all of the counties in the KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot listening area went down in March according to the latest data.

According to the Arkansas Department of Workforce Services, Baxter County’s unemployment rate went from 4.6 in February to 4.3 in March. The March numbers show 709 persons were unemployed out of a workforce of 16,466.

Marion County’s unemployment rate dropped from 4.9 in February to 4.1 in March. Marion County had 265 unemployed people out of workforce of 6,443.

Fulton County saw its rate drop from 4.9 to 4.2. Two hundred were out of work from a workforce of 4,748.

In Izard County, the unemployment rate dropped from 6.1 to 5.4 in March. From a workforce of 4,829, 262 were unemployed.

Stone County had an unemployment rate of 5.0, down from 5.6 in February. There were 236 unemployed residents out of a workforce of 4,679.

Searcy County saw its rate drop from 5.4 to 4.4. There were 129 unemployed out of a workforce of 2,945.

In Ozark County, the March unemployment rate was 4.7, down from 5.4 in February. There were 163 unemployed out of a workforce of 3,498.

Taney County had the highest unemployment rate in the area, but it was down considerably from February, going from 13.4 to 6.9. There were 1,790 out of employment from a workforce of 25,887.

Howell County’s rate was 4.3 with 651 unemployed out of a labor workforce of 15,270.

In Douglas County, the unemployment rate was 4.2 in March as 206 people were out of employment from a workforce of 4,961.
