Fiddlers Convention begins Thursday

The 35th Annual Fiddlers Convention is scheduled for Thursday through Sunday at the South Campus of North Arkansas College in Harrison. The convention opens at noon on Thursday with open jam sessions in the classrooms.

The Harrison Daily Times reports gospel music will also be featured on Thursday from 2:00 until 8:00 in the evening at the Little Theater. Local gospel music groups, including Unashamed, as well as gospel groups from other states will be present.

Friday morning will open with jam sessions at 9:00, and performances will begin at 1:00 at the Little Theater.

Saturday will feature stage performances, including performances from Wayne Massengale and Melody Hart of Branson’s “Country Tonite” show, Joe Sasser, an all-girls band with musicians from almost every state, and an all-kids band. Performances begin at 10:00 Saturday morning, with awards and acknowledgments at 2:30.

The convention will conclude on Sunday morning with gospel music from 9:00 until 10:30 with James and Inez Johnson of McAllister, Oklahoma.

There is no admission charge, but donations are welcomed. There will be food concessions, but no alcoholic beverages are allowed. A security guard will be on duty, and the building is handicap accessible.
